Harimau island, Bakauheni, Lampung, Indonesia

Harimau is a word taken from Bahasa Indonesia which has meaning tiger. Even we call it as a "tiger island" but there is no that animal living there but there were some long time ago. This island is located in Bakauhuni, South Lampung which is very close to Bakauheni harbor. When we want to travel to Java from Sumatra via land, we should go by ferry in Bakauheni harbor and we can see this island from the ferry. There are some families living in this island and there is an elementary school there. Most of the people are working as farmers and fishermen. They are not originaly from this island but they come from some areas like from Bandar Lampung, Banten (West Java), Bugis (South Sulawesi). This island is surrounded by mangroves all along the shore. The beach also has mud that makes grey color of the beach. But at the east part, we can see beach with white sand around 5oo meters long. This island is located at Ketapang, Bakauheni, South Lampung with coordinate 05o51’29’’ and 105o46’58". The large is about 500 hectare. Check this Mengkudu island
